Our Story
In 2019, Global Center for Advanced Studies (GCAS)—a decentralized alternative to higher education—launched its publication ecosystem in four distinct forms: 1) The GCAS Review; 2) GCAS Magazine; 3) GCAS Commentary; and 4) The GCAS Review Podcast. Most recently, after the 2023 Summer Institute in Prague, the GCAS Community Journal.
Through these five mediums, GCAS continues to extend its reach and achieve its mission of bringing unique ideas to interested people at the point of need.
Below, is an overview of each of GCAS’s distributive forms and how you can get involved.
The GCAS Review
The GCAS Review is a peer-reviewed journal of interdisciplinary studies and critical cultural engagement. We seek scholarship that highlights unique ideological features from a wide range of disciplines, including the humanities, social and political sciences, religious studies, critical theory, psychoanalysis, and philosophy to provide insight into the most vexing questions of the world today.
The GCAS Review, however, is not solely an journal for academics. We also seek ideologues with specialized knowledge in subjects that are thematic to our editorial schedule, to include: public intellectuals, sustainability theorists, artists, coders, hackers, and designers.
We are seeking peer reviewers for our 2023 Issues on ‘Religion and Modern Society’ and ‘Contemporary Economics’

GCAS Commentary
GCAS hosts a regular number of public lectures online and in-person with some of the most profound minds of our century. Past lecturers include Alain Badiou, Henry Giroux, on Jean-Luc Nancy and Oliver Stone. We also interview academics and other public intellectuals to see where they think their work fits into giving us a better understanding of ourselves, them, and our zeitgeist. It’s in this section that we host these video and audio recordings. We’re not interested in keeping all that amazing knowledge to ourselves and want to ensure you get exposed to what these incredible people are saying.
GCAS Magazine
GCAS Magazine is a digital destination where independent journalism and scholarship thrives. Every article is a chance to deliver a unique outlook on a problem, issue, or possibility within or time and to inject the voices of the brightest and most interesting people into the ether of ideas. Whether employing articles, photographs, artwork, or film, our singular goal is to showcase narratives that embrace big ideas and to show what’s possible when we better understand our world.
